Preventing Vinyl Skirting from Blowing Away

Don’t let your vinyl skirting blow away

By Mark Bower

Are you outside putting your vinyl skirting back on every time the wind blows? If so here’s a couple tips for keeping it put.

Windrods

Use windrods to keep the skirting snug to the top track. A windrod is a very stiff round piece of wire that’s 16-36” long with a hook on the end. The windrods slip down in the seam of the skirting and hook under the lip of the top track. The windrods hold the skirting in place, yet allow the skirting to raise and fall with the seasons. Use a windrod every 2-3 seams.

Screws

Here’s a simple solution for keeping the bottom of the skirting from blowing out. Simply screw it to the bottom track. Drive a screw into every piece of skirting except for those pieces you wish to remove for access to underneath the home.
